This dramatic cigar-band ring was made using chasing and repoussé, an ancient method of shaping sheet metal into bas-relief designs. Variations on this method were practiced in ancient cultures around the world, and the practice continued until the industrial revolution brought in die-stamping and other automatic methods. To my eye, chasing and repoussé produces a more organic and dynamic texture than a machine can produce. And of course, each item is one of a kind!
I use only argentium sterling silver in my jewelry. Argentium sterling silver is hypoallergenic. It contains more pure silver than ordinary sterling (93.5% or 94%, vs. a minimum of 92% for other sterling). It contains no nickel. It is very durable, and unlike ordinary sterling silver, it is tarnish-resistant.
