Handmade jewelry is always special, but handmade gold jewelry is on another level. I made this ring entirely by hand in my studio in Clinton, Connecticut. It is solid 14 karat yellow gold throughout, with a light, subtle hammered texture on the band. It is a U.S. size 6.
The sapphire is cobalt blue with a slight tinge of green. It is a natural, earth-mined stone in a round brilliant cut, approximately 5 mm across. The stone is "imperfect"--which means that it has internal inclusions which give it character.
Sapphire is the birthstone for September. The ring would also make a perfect nontraditional engagement ring for someone who prefers dainty jewelry.
