The intricate, layered rough texture of this ring is inspired by the bark of the ancient cedar trees that I remember from childhood hikes in the forests of the Pacific Northwest. There is a knothole on the bottom fo the ring--perhaps a hiding place for a tiny critter.
This ring was made using the ancient technique of lost-wax casting. Only one model was made, and it was destroyed as part of the casting process. The ring is entirely hand-carved and one of a kind. A dark patina in the recessed portions highlights the design.
Argentium sterling silver is a tarnish-resistant, hypoallergenic, nickel-free metal. It contains more pure silver than regular sterling (94% vs. 92.5%). It uses only recycled silver.
